This refund policy is subject to change without notice and applies to all purchases made through Caribbean Chandlery. By making a purchase, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this refund policy. This policy does not affect your statutory rights under applicable consumer protection laws. In the event of any conflict between this policy and applicable law, the law shall prevail.
Caribbean Chandlery reserves the right to refuse returns that do not meet the criteria outlined in this policy or that we suspect involve fraud or abuse of our return policy.
General Return Policy
Standard Returns
We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. If you are not satisfied, you may return eligible items within 30 days of the delivery date for a refund or exchange.
Conditions for Standard Returns:

Item must be unused and in its original condition

Item must be in original packaging with all tags, labels, and accessories

Proof of purchase (receipt or order confirmation) must be provided

Item must not be on the non-returnable items list (see below)
Timeframe for Processing Refunds
Once we receive your returned item, we will:

Inspect the return within 3-5 business days

Notify you via email of the approval or rejection of your refund

Process approved refunds within 5-7 business days
Please note: Depending on your financial institution, it may take an additional 5-10 business days for the refund to appear in your account.
Types of Refunds
Full Refunds
You are eligible for a full refund (minus original shipping costs) if:

The item is defective or damaged upon arrival (we cover return shipping)

We shipped the wrong item (we cover return shipping)

The item is returned within 30 days in unused, original condition with all packaging
Partial Refunds
A partial refund (50-75% of purchase price) may be issued in the following circumstances:

Opened packaging but unused item - 75% refund

Minor cosmetic damage caused during return shipping - 50-75% refund
-
Missing accessories or documentation - refund amount reduced by replacement cost

Item shows signs of installation or attempted use - up to 50% refund (at our discretion)

Returns after 30 days but within 60 days - 50% refund for items in perfect condition
No Refund
No refund will be issued if:

Item is returned more than 60 days after delivery

Item has been used, installed, or modified
-
Item is damaged due to misuse or neglect

Item is on the non-returnable list

Return is not authorized by Caribbean Chandlery prior to shipping

Item fails inspection due to missing parts or excessive wear
Non-Returnable Items
The following items are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged unless defective:
Safety and Hygiene Items

Life jackets and personal flotation devices (PFDs) that have been worn

Safety harnesses and lifelines that have been used

Flares and pyrotechnic signals

First aid kits and medical supplies (once opened)
Marine Electronics and Electrical

Marine electronics that have been installed or show signs of installation

Electrical components that have been wired or connected
-
GPS and chartplotters once activated or registered
-
VHF radios once programmed with MMSI numbers
-
Software and digital products once downloaded or activated
Special Order and Custom Items

Special order items manufactured or sourced specifically for your vessel
-
Custom-cut materials (rope, chain, canvas, etc.)

Engraved or personalized items
-
Made-to-order parts
Consumables and Chemicals
-
Cleaning products and chemicals (once opened)
-
Paint, varnish, and epoxy (once opened)
-
Oil, lubricants, and fuel additives (once opened)
-
Sealants and adhesives (once opened)
Other Non-Returnable Items

Clearance and closeout items marked "Final Sale"

Intimate items (foul weather gear liners once worn)

Cut fabrics or materials
-
Used or installed parts (even if removed)
Defective or Damaged Items
Reporting Defects
If you receive a defective or damaged item, please contact us within 7 days of delivery:

Provide your order number

Describe the defect or damage

Include photos clearly showing the issue

Keep all original packaging
Our Response
For verified defective or damaged items, we will:

Provide a full refund including original shipping costs, OR
-
Send a replacement at no additional cost, OR
-
Offer store credit for the full purchase amount plus 10% (your choice)
We cover all return shipping costs for defective or damaged items.
Wrong Item Shipped
If we shipped the wrong item, please contact us within 7 days of delivery. We will:

Arrange for pickup or provide a prepaid return label

Ship the correct item at no additional charge

Expedite shipping if the error causes urgency
Return Process
How to Initiate a Return

Provide details: Order number, item(s) to return, and reason for return

Receive authorization: We will provide a Return Authorization (RA) number and instructions

Ship the item: Package securely with RA number clearly marked on the outside
IMPORTANT: Returns without a Return Authorization number may be refused or delayed.
Return Shipping

Customer responsibility: You are responsible for return shipping costs for standard returns

Our responsibility: We cover return shipping for defective, damaged, or wrong items

Recommendation: Use a trackable shipping method and purchase shipping insurance for valuable items

Risk: You bear the risk of loss during return shipping unless we provide a prepaid label
Exchanges
We gladly accept exchanges for items of equal or greater value within 30 days of delivery. The item must meet all standard return conditions. If exchanging for a higher-priced item, you pay the difference. If exchanging for a lower-priced item, we will issue store credit for the difference.
Restocking Fees
A 15% restocking fee will be applied to:

Returns of special order items (if accepted)

Bulk or wholesale orders (10+ units of the same item)

Items over $1,000 (unless defective or our error)

Returns that require repackaging or refurbishing
Refused Deliveries
If you refuse delivery of your order, you will be responsible for:

Original outbound shipping charges

Any restocking fees applicable
A refund will be issued minus these costs.
Store Credit
Store credit is valid for 12 months from the date of issue and can be used for any future purchase. Store credit:

Does not expire if account remains active

Cannot be redeemed for cash

Cannot be transferred to another person

May be combined with other payment methods
International Returns
International customers are responsible for:

All return shipping costs

Any customs fees, duties, or taxes incurred during return

Currency conversion fees (refunds issued in original currency when possible)

Returns may take 3-6 weeks to process due to customs clearance.
Warranty Claims
Many products sold by Caribbean Chandlery include manufacturer warranties. For warranty claims:
